"When is the next October meeting going to be held? I heard it is only 2-3 times a month." I am obviously too late for the oct reply. The dates for nov and dec are now up on the web. The group meets 2-3 times per month depending on the number of weeks in the month and holiday schedules.

I'm stunned that there are so few Compulsive Overeater type group meetings in or around Seattle areas. This is so sad to me. Where can people find each other for help and support around here on a regular basis!!

I'm looking for meetings for overeaters. I'm not sure where in Bellevue you are talking about. Can you give some cross-streets to the church where those meetings meet and the date and times? Please? I'm in Renton

Why is there no support in thurston or lewis county? I personally know several people who could use the support, so no one can say that there isn't people down there that don't suffer from these various illnesses.

"I'm wondering that too. I've never been to one of the discussions but would like to try and attend. " You would be most welcome to attend the group. It is very hard to recover from an eating disorder and especially hard to recover without support. This group offers ongoing support from people who are living all stages of the recovery process. You can always come once and see if it works for you. It may be a small investment for something that could be very helpful to you.

"I am not currently being treated for my eating disorder but am seeking treatment. Is this support group only for those who are recovering and have been in treatment for sometime? " Hi there, The group is open to anyone who is interested in recovering from an eating disorder. We have a range of participants--from those just realizing that they don't want an eating disorder to be the center of their lives but have no idea how to change this--to those who are well on the way to recovery. Several of the group members receive other types of support from therapists or nutritionists but there is no requirement that members be in any specific type of treatment. Why not come one time and see? It is a friendly and welcoming group and all have great compassion for starting the process of healing and recovering from an eating disorder.

I am currently searching for an eating disorder specialist in the Tacoma area. I live in Idaho and have received help here, but am returning to school in a week. If someone could refer me to a specialist in the area (preferably someone who accepts insurance), I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

I can't recommend anyone in Tacoma specifically, but you might check out NEDA's database--they have a couple of listings for Tacoma.

The support group is for people recovering from any type of eating disorder or food and weight preoccupation. We have several members who have had in-patient treatment. Please feel free to come and give it a try. It is an open and welcoming group.

The group usually has between 4-10 people. Very rarely we may have up to 12 or 13. You could always come one time and try it out. The facilitators encourage participants to join in the discussion but not everyone talks their first or second time which is okay.

Hello!
I run a non-profit high school foreign exchange program. I am writing to you because I have a little bit of a unique situation. We have a female student coming from Germany to Washington State that has a past history of bulimia. While I am sure she will have a wonderful time on her exchange for the school year, I know that many students go through a stressful period of culture shock. I want to make sure she is with a very caring family and I thought maybe living with someone who has had experience dealing with an eating disorder would be the most beneficial for her.
I was hoping someone within your group would be interested in hosting her or might know of someone who would. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,

Hello All,
I had to leave last night before I got a chance to ask you guys my question. I am doing a research project at school (North Seattle Community College) for my Psychology of Gender class on eating disorders. The project is based on gender and why eating disorders are largely considered a "female disease." My group members and I also hope for our project to provide other students at NSCC with a "real-life" look into the reality of EDs and how they actually affect sufferers and their families. I am looking for people who would be willing to do a brief interview with me that will be videotaped. You would recieve the questions ahead of time and would not have to answer any question that made you uncomfortable. You would also have the choice to have your face obscured in the video, which will be played at the end of the quarter and a Making Learning Visable event at NSCC. If anyone is willing or interested in participating, that would be awsome, but no pressure whatsoever. Let me know. Thanks!

Hi!
We'd love for you to participate! Thanks so much for getting back to me. We are just getting started on the interviewing process. We have set up an e-mail account for this project, so I don't have to put my personal info. on here. :) It is arcadianoir@gmail.com. Just put "interview" in the subject line. Thanks so much. We are totally flexible about time/place. Talk to you soon.
